Mitzy is a 3 year old, 9 lb Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix. That makes her a "chipin" dog! She came to Humane Tomorrow from a Houston area shelter effected by Hurricane Harvey. Foster mom says Mitzy is a super little dog. She is very petite and beautiful. She has a sweet temperament, and loves to cuddle. She likes to sit by foster mom when she's watching TV, and she likes to sleep in bed with her. She burrows way down under the covers to the foot of the bed. She gets along with the big & little dogs in her foster home. She play wrestles with the younger one, and leaves the older ones alone. She does bother the cat by following him around, and trying to nip at him. The cat is bigger than she is, and very laid back, so she doesn't both him, but she may annoy other cats. She doesn't live with kids in her foster home, but we think she would be ok with kids over the age of 6. She stays in her crate when foster mom is gone during the day, and will happily go into her crate for a treat. She seems to be housebroken, but she needs to be let out fairly often. She is not the type to go outside and play so she is always ready to come back in right after her potty break. She walks pretty well on a leash, but needs more practice, and definitely needs to be walked with a harness. She rides well in the car, but may try to get into your lap, so it's better for her to ride in a carrier. Mitzi has heartworms because she was not kept on monthly heartworm prevention. Heartworms are not contagious, and Humane Tomorrow will pay for her treatment with our vet.
