Rex is a 1.5 year old, 16 lb, fun-loving Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. Rex has a high energy level. He needs a home where his people are home most of the time, and preferably have a yard where he can run off some of his energy. Adopters living in an apartment will have to be dedicated to taking Rex out for walks or run several times per day. He has never met a stranger, and he loves being around people. Playing "fetch" is his favorite activity, and going for walks is his next favorite thing to do. However, he is just learning to walk on a leash, so more training & practice is needed. He also likes to play with toys and enjoys car rides. Rex is completely house-trained, sleeps quietly in his kennel and doesn't mind spending time by himself. He still has a lot of puppy energy and habits. He likes to nip at legs and heels in play, so he needs some positive reinforcement training to stop this bad habit. Due to this issue, he should not go to a home with kids under the age of 6. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, but they are older and sometimes become annoyed with his puppy antics. He would be just fine as an only dog. Rex is very quiet and never barks!
